Interior Painting & Decorating

Professional interior painting that transforms your living spaces. Proper preparation, premium paints, and attention to detail on every job.

Interior Painting Done Properly by Nolan

Anyone can slap paint on a wall, but getting a finish that actually looks good and lasts takes experience. We've been painting interiors across Surrey, South London, and now Essex for over thirty years. In that time, we've learned that the secret is almost always in the preparation.

That means filling cracks properly, sanding down rough spots, and priming where needed. It means using quality Dulux Trade paints rather than the cheapest option. And it means taking our time to cut in neatly around windows, doors, and light switches rather than rushing to get onto the next job.

We're also a dust-free company. We've invested in Mirka extraction sanding systems, which means when we sand down your woodwork or walls, the dust gets sucked away rather than settling all over your furniture and flooring. It makes a real difference, especially if you're living in the property while we work.

What We Paint

From single rooms to full property redecorations, we handle all aspects of interior painting.

Walls & Ceilings

The foundation of any room. We fill any cracks, sand rough areas, and apply the right number of coats for proper coverage. Matt, silk, or eggshell finishes available.

Woodwork

Skirting boards, architraves, window frames, and picture rails. Properly sanded and primed before painting, with satinwood or gloss finishes that won't chip.

Doors

Both sides, including frames and handles removed for a neat finish. We know how to avoid brush marks and runs on vertical surfaces.

Period Features

Cornices, ceiling roses, dado rails, and other architectural details. We take the time to paint these properly rather than rushing over them.

Staircases

Spindles, handrails, and newel posts. Fiddly work that requires patience and a steady hand. We use dust-free sanding to minimise mess.

Kitchens & Bathrooms

Specialist paints for high-moisture areas. Proper masking around tiles, worktops, and fixtures. Moisture-resistant finishes that won't peel.

Why Preparation Matters

The difference between an average paint job and a great one is almost always in the prep work.

1

Protection

Furniture moved and covered with proper dust sheets. Carpets protected. Light switches and sockets masked off.

2

Repair

Cracks filled, holes patched, loose plaster dealt with. We won't just paint over problems that will show through later.

3

Sanding

Surfaces keyed for proper paint adhesion. Our Mirka dust-extraction systems mean minimal mess during this stage.

4

Priming

Bare wood and new plaster primed properly. Stain-blocking primers where needed to prevent bleed-through.

5

Painting

Multiple coats with proper drying time between. Careful cutting-in around edges. No rush, no shortcuts.

Interior Painting Questions

How much does it cost to paint a room?

Every room is different, so we prefer to give you an accurate quote rather than a rough guess. Send us some pictures via WhatsApp or the quote form and we can give you a rough estimate. We'll then arrange a site visit to provide a detailed quote with no obligation.

What paint do you use?

Johnstones Trade is recommended for their fantastic colour-matching abilities, plus it offers excellent coverage and durability. We're happy to use other premium brands like Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, or anything else you prefer. Just let us know and we'll factor it into the quote.

Do you move furniture?

We'll move smaller items and cover everything with dust sheets. For larger pieces like wardrobes or beds, we ask that you move them to the centre of the room before we arrive. If that's not possible, let us know and we can work around it.

Can I stay in the house while you work?

Absolutely. We work room by room, keeping disruption to a minimum. Our dust-free sanding systems help with this. Most customers carry on living normally while we're there.

How long does a room take?

It depends on the size, condition, and how much prep work is needed. Send us some pictures and we can give you an estimation. We won't rush though - proper drying time between coats is important for a lasting finish.

What about the smell?

Modern water-based paints have minimal odour and dry quickly. Oil-based paints for woodwork do smell more but we ventilate as much as possible. The smell usually clears within a day or two of us finishing.
